A New World Disorder

In Chapter 5 of Barker's book, he brings up the topic of Globalization.
Globalization is pretty much the increasing tendency toward
international connections in media, etc. After reading this section, I
thought about my post from week 10. I talked about how other countries
view the United States through our ridiculous television shows. So, if I
heard from my other classmates that before they came to the U.S. they
thought all Americans overweight, wear white tube socks all the time,
and wear silly shorts, how come globalization is not fixing this
problem? I suppose it is actually a part of the problem because other
countries are getting this idea through television, however they should
be getting the opposite idea through maybe the internet, or over the
phone to families. Globalization is helping and hurting the United
State's image.
