Hegemony and History

In Chapter 14 about Cultural Politics, Barker talks a little bit about Hegemony. When I read
this section, my mind went on a tangent and I thought of how Hegemony
affects history. Hegemony is basically messages from the dominant
culture that are repeated until the masses assume they are true.
Needless to say, each city, state, and country has their own form of
Hegemony. With that in mind, it is no wonder why there are so many
differences in the way that people view their own histories in
comparison to others. Everything in History has two sides-- the
winners and the losers. Each side is going to have their own stories
to pass down to the masses, which is why there will never be one solid
and factual History that the world shares. This is why there is no
peace. Everyone has their own side of the story, and it will never
get straightened out.
